Hi Everyone,
I did a thing! I am exploring another creative side to my Sacred Site interests and have decided to design candles and shirts that I hope you'll enjoy. Let me give you a little bit of a background as to why, and hopefully it will lead you to explore my store!
I'm someone who always burns prayer candles. I burn them for my daily devotions, I burn them when I pray for someone's health, I burn them when someone is passing or has passed, and I burn them to give thanks for all the blessings I have. Obviously, the local ethnic markets are getting a lot of business from me! But along the way I began to wish I could create some prayer candles as well. I have tried to represent the main religions, and will be adding more soon. Here are some samples:
And then I started noticing how many people I was losing from my life, and that my friends and family were losing as well. Last year I wrote a post on the historic Temple Jewish cemetery and learned about a beautiful Jewish tradition called Yerzheit where a candle is burned. This is celebrated on the yearly anniversary of someone's death, when it's believed the soul is closest to those on Earth. And I thought about how lovely that would be if, regardless of our faith, we took the opportunity to let the departed know how much they were loved and missed and what a difference they made to our lives while burning a candle in their name. So I started giving candles as gifts to friends who were grieving, in the hopes that it would give some comfort. But I couldn't find candles that really spoke to me, or had designs that I liked. So I created some Memorial / Remembrance / Yerzheit candles that could be customized with the person's name that you miss. Here are a few, and the backgrounds you might see on some of the candles:
As to the shirts, I know there are some of us out there who are just a litttlllle bit obsessed with cool old cemeteries, or are Mound Sitters like me. So I made some t-shirts for us to wear! (And one on Ancient Aliens, because why not?)
I've also added mugs based on the artwork for shirts and candles.
I'll be adding designs along the way, and hope that you will consider a view of the store. If you buy anything, please share a picture! That would make my day. And please leave a review on Zazzle, that would be so helpful.
If I haven't said it enough, thank you, ALL OF YOU, for supporting my journey in writing this blog. It's one of the best excuses for a road trip I can think of, and a great way to share my love of these sites with good friends and those who become better friends.
Lisa
